London I LOVE U

Bonjour,

Come forse avrà capito chi mi segue già da un po’, Londra per me ha un significato speciale, non si tratta soltanto del classico “favourite place to go” ma di qualcosa di più, e’ l’unico posto al mondo al quale sento di appartenere, l’unico in cui riesco a provare un’ indescrivibile sensazione di liberta’.

Mi piace tutto di Londra: il brutto tempo, i chiassosi pub pieni di gente “su di giri” gia’ alle cinque di pomeriggio, il tanto chiacchierato fish and chips e il cielo grigio.

Sarò forse affetta da inguaribile ottimismo ma tutti si lamentano di questo cielo però nessuno si ricorda mai che in estate a Londra il buio arriva davvero tardi e alle nove e mezza di sera è ancora possibile passeggiare nei parchi godendo di una splendida luce color rosso-arancione.

Amo la colazione inglese a base di scrambled eggs e sono completamente “in love with” Starbucks.

Questa quindi la prima tappa del mio soggiorno londinese: Starbucks in Oxford Street, nessun altro posto al mondo si confà alla pianificazione come questo..e poi non si può iniziare una giornata di shopping senza un combo cookie and coffee.

Un caffè da Starbucks in settimana significa vedere uomini d’affari concentrati su agende e taccuini ,ragazze universitarie che scrivono appunti e persone immerse nella lettura o forse soltanto nei propri pensieri.

As you may understood if you have been following me for a while, London has a special meaning for me, it is not just the “favorite place to go” but something more, the only place in the world I feel I belong to, the only one where I have this freedom’s feeling.

I love everything about London: the bad weather, the noisy pubs full of people already “high” at five o clock in the afternoon, even fish and chips and the gray sky.

I may be suffering from a weird form of incurable optimism today, but if everyone complains about the Uk grey sky, no one ever remembers that during London summertime, the sunset comes really late so at 9:30 pm you can still walk through a park enjoying a beautiful red-orange light.

I love the English breakfast with scrambled eggs and I did fall “in love with” Starbucks.

So this was the first step of my London long weekend: Starbucks in Oxford Street. Any other place in the world it’so good for planning like Starbucks .. and then you can not begin a day of shopping without a combo cookies and coffee.

A coffee at Starbucks means looking at business people focused on diaries and notebooks, at university students writing notes or at people lost in readings and own thoughts.

A questo punto mi dirigo verso Shoreditch, la patria del vintage…passeggiare per le vie di Brick Lane mi da un po’ la sensazione di tornare indietro nel tempo: negozietti “alternativi” stile anni 50/60, graffiti e concept store animano le strade di questo quartiere che cresce ogni giorno di più.

At this point I went to Shoreditch, “the vintage world” . Walking through Brick Lane streets I felt like stepping back in time: they are full of “trendy” shops in 50′ and 60’s style, graffiti and concept stores.

Non sto qui ad elencarvi tutti i negozi che ho visitato..altrimenti il post rischia di diventare davvero troppo lungo:): se volete fare il vostro giro di shopping in questa zona vi consiglio di scendere alla fermata della metro Liverpool Street, curiosare tra le bancarelle trendy dell’ Old Spitalfields Market (tutti i venerdi,sabato e domenica), per poi immergetevi completamente in questo magico quartiere per una lunga passeggiata.

Ne cito solo un paio: Launderette e Twin Deverse

I’m not gonna list all the shops I visited otherwise the post would be far too long :): If you want to do the same shopping route I suggest you to stop@ Liverpool Street tube station, have a look at the trendy stalls of Old Spitalfields Market (every Friday, Saturday and Sunday), and then immerse yourself in this magical district having a long walk.

I will mention just a couple of those: Launderette and Twin Deverse

Day 2:

Ho dedicato il secondo giorno a quello che io chiamo il “mio classico giro”, lo faccio sempre, tutte le volte.

1.Colazione abbondante al Marriot Hotel dietro Edware Road

2.Giro di shopping in Selfridges di circa 3 ore: anche a Londra quest’anno spopolano i colori argento, oro e le pallettes luccicanti , i bikers, le borchie e i capi d’ispirazione militare; sono ancora molto in voga gli Ugg e le sciarpe di Alexander Mc Queen. Stupende le collezioni di Ted Baker e Marc Jacobs.

I spent the second day doing my “usual route”, I always do it, every single time in London.

1. Breakfast at the Marriot Hotel just behind Edware Road

2. Shopping in Selfridges for about 3 hours. London Trends? Here you are: silver, gold and shimmering palettes, bikers, studs and military inspiration, Ugg boots and Alexander McQueen scarves. Beautiful collections by Ted Baker and Marc Jacob

3. Una breve sosta da Lola cupcakes e una manicure super trendy nel beauty corner The Paint Shop( (entrambi sempre all’interno di Selfridges) sono un must: si può scegliere tra un milione di colori e stili diversi.

Day 3

La mattina si apre con un brunch al Breakfast Club sempre in zona Spitalfields ( 12-16 Artillery Lane ) : ve lo consiglio, è molto carino.. arredato in stile vintage, servizio e cibo sono ottimi.

The day started with a brunch @ Breakfast Club in Spitalfields area(12-16 Artillery Lane): I do recommend it: Amazing furnitures in vintage style, service and food are great.

Si prosegue con un’altra passeggiata all’insegna dello shopping (e non solo, giuro!) in King’s Road partendo dall’enorme centro commerciale “Peter Jones” in Sloane Square, dove ho potuto respirare una splendida atmosfera natalizia . Ho sempre preferito King’s Road e la zona di Chelsea al trittico Oxford, Carnaby e Bond Street. I negozi sono meno dozzinali, l’atmosfera è più signorile e le vie po’ meno caotiche.

After the brunch I went for another walk (not just for shopping!, I swear :)) in King’s Road, starting from the”Peter Jones” department store in Sloane Square where I could feel a very nice Christmas atmosphere. I’ve always preferred King’s Road and Chelsea area, instead of the tryptich Oxford, Carnaby and Bond Street: the quality of the shops is higher, the atmosphere is more elegant and the streets are a little less chaotic.

Non poteva di certo mancare anche un giretto in Covent Garden, dove ho potuto assaggiare per la prima volta questo frozen yoghurt da SNOG (5 Garrick Street) http://www.ifancyasnog.com/.

Se vi trovate da quelle parti vi consiglio di non perdervelo: è buonissimo, con pochissimi grassi e con bel ventaglio di gusti e topping tra cui scegliere!

If you are walking through this neighbourhood, I suggest you don’t miss it: it is tasty, fat free and with a wide range of flavors and toppings to choose from!

Non potendo mai lasciare Londra senza guardarla dall’alto ho deciso di cenare al ristorante Paramount (101-103 New Oxford Street): si mangia molto bene e la vista è meravigliosa..non è proprio cheap ma vale la pena;)

Every time I go to London I never leave it without looking at it from the very top of something 🙂 This time I did it having a dinner in Paramount (101-103 New Oxford Street): the food is very good and the view is absolutely great .. it is not cheap but its worth it;)
