Lifestyle:top 3 restaurants not to miss in London!

Do you feel like going to a fancy restaurant but you have no idea where to go? It’s time to celebrate your B-Day or to impress your potential “Mr Big”?
Below my top three “must go” restaurants which either if you live in London or if you are here just for the weekend , shouldn’t really miss!

1. Margaux

Margaux is a modern French/ Italian restaurant/wine bar located at 152 Old Brompton Road (South Kensington Tube station).

The atmosphere is very elegant and the service is great. Both waitresses and manager are extremely gentle and happy to support in any request should you have. I liked so much since the very first time I visited it that I decided to celebrate my B Day there (for the full set of my B- Day Pictures, click  here).

They have an intimate room in the basement, so you can have  your own “private” space to have fun with your friends being separated from the rest of the restaurant. The furniture is very classy with a big wood round table in the centre and a wall full of prestigious wine bottles.

The main course menu includes: seared foie gras,  porcini risotto and seared scallops, grilled veal rib and Barolo braised beef .

I particularly love the variety of starters: lightly smoked asparagus veloute, grilled aubergine salad, house cured citrus salmon carpaccio and gnocchi made with piedmont castelmagno cheese.

100 bin wine list covers a broad range of producers and grapes and  also over 25 wines are available by the glass and carafe just in case the full bottle is not your option.

Dessert wise, you will find an impressive choice of delicious sweets: dark chocolate plate featuring cocoa in 7 textures, passion fruit crème brûlée and amaretto sponge cake and a selection of house made ice creams.

The weekend brunch menu gives also plenty of choices: from the very typical scrambled and poached eggs to the more sophisticated mozzarella and smoked salmon tartine.  I would also recommend to try both the salads and the tasty appetizers.

2. Sushi Samba Restaurant and Sky Bar

Watching the City of London from the very top, looking at the Gherkin almost touching your nose, enjoying ta beautiful sunset from a super- high terrace:welcome to the Sushi Samba Experience!

Sushi Samba is located on the 38th & 39th floors of the impressive Heron Tower building (Liverpool Street Tube Station ).

It delivers a unique blend of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisine, culture, music and striking design to the City of London.

You will get upstairs with a lift from where you can see most of the city and the view is absolutely stunning!

The cocktails are great!  even if you want to go for a non alcoholic option, they will create a bespoke one for you!

You can choose between eating at the sushi bar or inside the restaurant.
Personally speaking I love both options: the bar is obviosuly less intimate but still a very nice experience as you are going to eat looking at the terrace.

The food is sophisticated, tasty and fresh: either the sushi and sashimi plates as well as the hot dishes are extremely good.

The only negative thing is that it is very difficult to find a place at the restaurant : if you don’t book at least two months in advance, but, trust me , it’s definitely worth it!

If you just want to go there for a drink instead, no problem at all, just put on your best shoes and dress and go!
The address is Heron Tower, 110 Bishopsgate, London EC2N 4AY

3. Aqua Kyoto

Aqua is one of my favourite posh restaurants ever. Again you have to take a lift to get there as it is located at the 5th Floor of 240 Regent St, London W1B 3BR , in the heart of London West End  (Oxford Circus Tube Station).

The atmosphere is very exclusive, with a big bar just before the entrance so as you can enjoy a couple of drinks while you are waiting for your table to be ready.

There is also a terrace outside, where , in case of good weather, I would recommend to try the brunch experience on Sunday between 12 noon and 4 pm.

The portions are pretty small but the quality of the food is very high, one of the best sushi I’ve ever had!

Again I won’t suggest you a particular dish as I’ve been there many times and anything I’ve chosen was just tasteful, well cooked and perfectly presented.

Aqua restaurant is also in the Shard , but there is a waiting list of two/three months to get a place there. If you, like me, are a little impatient and don’t want to wait 🙂 The Regent’s street one is the best option!
